As
a part of my degree course in TV and Radio, I had
to make a 10 minute film. My choice was to shoot
a documentary about Winter Hill - a Lancashire hill
with a dark history and a lively present. In 2002,
the film won an RTS Award for Best Student Documentary
in the North West.
The
film portrays a day in the life of the famous Lancashire
hill and tells some of the area's many stories,
including the aeroplane crash of 1958 and the murder
of George Henderson (right) as well as introducing
the diverse visitors who pass through on a typical
day.
I have
built a dedicated
Winter Hill website, based on the information
gathered during the making of this film. It was
one of the first sites I built and, as a result,
doesn't boast impressive design, but it does contain
a basic guide to the area and tells a few of the
many stories from the Hill and the moors that surround
it.
